Siendo la versión número 93 de los Premios Oscar, la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas anunció a los nominados de los Premios Oscar 2021, ceremonia que se llevará a cabo el domingo 25 de abril del 2021.
Con 10 nominaciones, la cinta “Mank” es la principal favorita de este año con postulaciones a Mejor Película, Mejor Actor, Mejor Dirección, Mejor Actriz de Reparto, entre otras. Le siguen, con seis, “The Trial of the Chicago 7”, “Sound of Metal”, “Nomadland”, “Minari”, “Judas and the Black Messiah” y “The Father”.
Esta edición del evento será bastante especial, puesto que, debido a la pandemia se consideraron películas estrenadas en streaming (siempre y cuando, éstas hubiesen tenido programado su estreno en cines). Por otra parte, las categorías de Mejor Edición de Sonido y Mejor Mezcla de Sonido se han fusionado en una sola categoría, llamada Mejor Sonido.
